Updates for baby book purposes:
Bryn had her 18 month appointment not long after our last post. Everything looked great and she is measuring in the 55th percentile in both height and weight. Our pediatrician said that she wouldn't be surprised if Bryn ends up being around 5' 5", which suprised us and her. We'll see. I think she'll hit a growth spurt, but if anything, she is proportional!
It seems like Bryn says a new word almost every day at this point. She isn't the best making the S sound, which makes new words like "outside," "slide," "splash," "bubbles," and "swing," pretty entertaining. She babbles what seems to be full sentences, likes to tell her friends "no, no, no" at at school, identifies purple and red, identifies whatever animal is on her shirt, and is obsessed with owls, which are lovingly referred to as "owe wals." The biggest development is that she is saying her name when she sees her picture or when you ask her what her name is. It comes out as "Bin." She also has said "Nick" when pointing to her daddy which didn't seem to please him much. She likes to run around saying/singing "mommadadda" as one word.
She loves the Turtle song, Row Row Row Your Boat, the Itsy Bitsy Spider and of course, anything Elmo. She still loves to color and identifies Abby in her books (Elmo's friend.) Her new favorite toy is Mr. Potato Head and she still loves her doctor kit, table and chairs and slide the most.
She has mastered using big kid utensils and throws them at Tegan when she is done only about 1/2 the time. She started drinking milk a little better a couple of weeks ago, but I won't get my hopes up. Her favorite things to eat are Greek yogurt, crackers, hummus, meatballs, mac n' cheese and chicken. She seems to like some spice to her food. Will not, and I mean absolutely not, eat any vegetables even at daycare where they won't offer an alternative. She gets vegetable baby food for breakfast that is blended with fruit to make me feel better. It's processed, but at least its something.
We have a "Can you do it" book and out of nowhere, she started making all of the motions without us encouraging her. It's pretty unreal to see how quickly she is developing. All of the sudden, she seems to understand what we are saying and tries to respond. Our favorite game is to ask her a question. Since she started saying the word "no" a couple of months ago, she would say "no" to anything we asked her. Now when we try to trick her with things she will always say no to and then throw in something like "do you want a cookie?" and she just grins at us and nods, so we know she is understanding more and more.
Good times, great friends and introducing Mr. Otis Zschoche!
First trip to the zoo with the Morgan Family! Bryn (and mommy) loved it! The Polar Bear, Gorilla and Turtle were Bryn's favorites.
Around and about.
Rock Chalk Ball.
