Disclaimer: This is a long post with only two pictures. This is what happens when I wake up at 4:15 to take my sister to the airport. The little (literally) Bell sister is going to China for three weeks. Lucky girl. Love you E!
Last weekend we got to spend some quality time with some very great friends. We are so lucky to have all of them in our lives as well as all of you reading. We even got to see a couple of friends that we don't get to see as often. Some random thoughts from the weekend:
- Koko and Justin Schmidt have little mini-me twins. Owen looks exactly like Justin and Olivia looks exactly like Koko. I absolutely love this and they are both adorable! For those of you who aren't familiar. Koko has a full name too. (Lindsay Kokoruda Schmidt). Love this little family!
- Kil and Andy Maysent continue to be the nicest and most wonderful friends anyone could ask for. Kil also has a full name. Lindsay Lenore Kiliper Maysent. Lol. This is fun.
- Shout out to Mr. Davy Cantrell for graduating from KU with his MBA and for getting an AMAZING job opportunity with Wal-Mart Corp. in Arkansas. Thanks for stopping by the house to say goodbye. Davy goes by Dave, David, Davy or if you are me 20+ years ago "Davy, Davy bo-BABY, banana-fana..."
- Thank you Ashlea Schwarz for lending me the huge bin of maternity clothes! It was great to spend some time with you and Rylea Saturday. One of my pinkie toes fits into your pants but the shirts work great! Thanks again!
- Thank you Miller for emptying your bladder down the front of me while we rushed to get to the basement Saturday night after hearing tornado sirens. I will forever cherish that memory. You are the best cat ever. Miller now goes by *******.
- We had TWO great dinners with Mark and Alli. If those of you in KC haven't tried the Tavern in the Village in Prairie Village, we highly recommend it. Aside from a little bit of a wait, we had a great experience. Mark and I recommend the rotisserie chicken.
However, at the request of a few of you, here is a baby bump picture taken last Friday, May 20 at 21 weeks. Thank you Nick for patiently taking as many I wanted until I was mildly happy. This was shot #479.
Doctor's Appointment and Vegetable Comparison
We started out the week going to a follow-up appointment with our regular OBGYN. He looked at the measurements from the 20 week sonogram and confirmed that everything looks great! He measured the fundal height for the first time and it was 20 cms. The fundal height is supposed to be similar to the week of pregnancy, so that was good.
As a side note, before my discovery of what "fundal height" is, I was reading Koko's blog the other day from when she was pregnant with the twins and I noticed one entry where she was 27 inches at like week 27 or something like that and I completely freaked out because I'm not sure my waist is even 27 inches on a good non-pregnancy day. As she very patiently explained to me, turns out this measurement is from your pelvic bone to the top of your uterus, not around your waist. I have also since learned that the measurement is in centimeters, not inches. Whew.
Anyway, we don't have another appointment until James David Brue's birthday on June 20 when I get to do the wonderful gestational diabetes test. Should be a great time. We will also start asking about the 3D sonogram, but we haven't decided for sure if we are going to pay for one. After seeing many from others, I am convinced that medical centers have the same picture of the same baby that comes out of each 3D sonogram machine.
22 Weeks!
Grammy and Grandpa Bell are curious about the vegetable of the week. Baby Sterner is the size of a spaghetti squash! Babycenter says:
"At 11 inches (the length of a spaghetti squash) and almost 1 pound, your baby is starting to look like a miniature newborn. His lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and he's even developing tiny tooth buds beneath his gums. His eyes have formed, but his irises (the colored part of the eye) still lack pigment. If you could see inside your womb, you'd be able to spot the fine hair (lanugo) that covers his body and the deep wrinkles on his skin, which he'll sport until he adds a padding of fat to fill them in. Inside his belly, his pancreas — essential for the production of some important hormones — is developing steadily."

Our thoughts are with Baby Sterner this week as s/he develops the beginning of a beautiful overbite gifted from both parents.
Last, Miller redeemed himself by being super cute Wednesday night.
